  • Setting Goals in The Dance Industry

In the middle of this pandemic some of us are waiting for COVID-19 to be over so we can go back into the studio, hopefully this coming year. Bringing in 2021 ready to train in-person and feel that in-studio energy you’ve been missing.  I hope you manifest going on to the next level in your dancing career, and life in general.

The dance studio industry has experience growth over the past five years leading up to 2019. Even through COVID-19, they found ways to make money and set goals.  The three purposes of dance are; style change with time, societal structures, and group interests.  Whether for example, a couple of choreographers done zoom dances classes, others have done YouTube dance tutorials, some dancers trained at home, and some were lucky to still train in the studio even with COVID-19 restrictions. Once the world is open again, what classes do you want to take? With who?  And what goals will you take on this coming year?

Well, if you have some trouble figuring those questions out, here are some examples for you to advance in yourself, personally or professionally. The first one is, set a goal on what you want accomplish in your dance and your career overall. Focus and show out for whatever class you want take and learn from. Take in every word the choreographer is saying to you and make yourself better. The last and final goal is to record your progress in class every chance you get. So, you can watch your progress and see how far you’ve come. You will see the difference in no time because you will feel it and see it.

The Last thing I want you to do is celebrate your successes big or small because as people we forget to celebrate how far we come. Take everything you’ve learned, reflect what class has changed your life, and most of all, celebrate you.  I want you to enjoy the journey and progress that it took you to get there.

  • Mission Statement:

I hope that by using my knowledge and experience on this platform, I can inspire those with similar interests in ways they can take themselves to the next level.

  • Going In With Brinn Nicole

One day, I was on Instagram and I kept seeing a three part live from Brinn on her story. So, I was debating with myself if I was going to do the three part live. Then I decided to look more into it and figured out what day I would take the class. I was going to take it the next weekend, but I missed it. I was talking to my friends and told them about it. They insisted that I should do it. Next month came and I applied for it two to three weeks early.           October18th, on sign into the zone early eastern time because I forgot it was pacific time. So, around 2 o’clock our time that’s when Part one on the zoom class started.  In Part one Brinn talked 7 Chakras and they are:

Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, Solar plexus Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third eye Chakra, Crown Chakra

Around 6pm it was time for part two the goddess full body workout. Brinn started with a Dance fitness. She played bootylicious by Destiny’s child and then we did the combo three times and boy, was I sweating. We went into deep stretching every part of our body. I realized that I need to stretch more for my flexibility. We moved onto the turning training portion of the workout. I felt like I was back in high school in jazz class doing the turning training as a warm up and I still got it though. I was proud of myself that I still can turn on both sides on my right and left sides of turning. We did both sides three times each and with the music in the background that fit perfectly every time we turn.

My favorite part of the workout was the booty blaster and we did fire hydrates, jump squats, and lunges. The more I felt the burn I wanted to throw up in the middle of the workout, but if you know me I am stubborn and I pushed through the workout. Then, it was arms toning, core building and leg burning exercises. After, all of that we did the dance fitness combo to bootylicious again. This time around I got it on point even though I felt my body getting sore and tired. As I said before that I am stubborn and pushed through dance fitness that we did another three times.

Brinn ended this zoom call with talking about part three and the song we were going to do.  The song was Jason Mraz new song “Take the Music” from his album “Look for The Good”. The dance was something different and that she never tried before, when I heard that I said, “I’m so ready to try something new.”

At 11:00pm it was time for Part three called divine Feminine Dance class. Brinn started the zoom call with an Angelic Oracle card reading and she was picking from the cards. She pulled from the deck of cards and we got Lost Love and she explain what it means. I’ll tell you what it means really quick, it means surrender to what is, but the freedom lies in being who you are. If you want to learn more of the Lost Love angelic Oracle. There are sites on great detail of it, so you can learn more about it.

Brinn communicated and described what the dance combo is all about. We danced to “Take the Music” again.  I realize everything is tied together from start to finish.  This dance was different, and I never did this type of dance before, but oddly enough it was needed. It’s called the healing dance and let’s say whatever chakra is blocked, now you are realizing, and you just feel you and the music. I can’t really describe it but there’s a video down below. I never felt so relaxed in my entire life because usually I am a ball of stress. We did the dance a couple of times but by the second time I felt like I had this dance and one moment I wanted to keep going.

Take The Music – Jason Mraz

Class was over and we were talking about the dance and how it made us feel. If you know me, I did not want to volunteer but, Brinn said my name and I said how I feel about. But if I don’t know you or don’t feel comfortable around you. I am so shy but that whole class was a safe space and no judgement at all. That’s what I like about it and after I took that class, I haven’t had anxiety and stress about anything. If you want to take Brinn class, follow her on Instagram and website at:

  • 10 year cultured movement showcase

I had a pleasure working with Sherema on her company cultured movement. What is cultured movement? You asked, it’s a “Cultured Movement is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to provide Cultural Competence Via the Art of Dance as a means to serve girls by promoting healthy bodies, self esteem, positive self image, cultural awareness and a higher consciousness of DANCE as an art form. ” each year I help, I get to learn about entrepreneurship from both Sherema and Ksyn. Then the kids did four songs to dance too.

Then, there were two awards giving out to ksyn and a little girl that has her own skin care line. She used to be a cultured movement girl. She also has her own show at 12. That’s pretty amazing at 12 and starting early. Then ksyn has her own company and dances with big stars that you probably listen too, music videos that you probably saw her in. Then at the end of the hip hop segment it turn into a dance party where the parents can embrace and dance with their kids. It was a perfect end to a great show.

You can tell they put their blood, sweat and tears in their performances. Sherema jungling being a traveling nurse and running her own company. Which is inspiring every time I work with her. I wouldn’t trade it for the world and one day own my own company like she does it so effortlessly.

  • Everlasting Tour -Sammie

where do I begin? I discovered sammie on Twitter when I broke my foot dancing. I had friends but everyone has their own life. You know when ustream was a thing, he would literally record and write on ustream making mixtapes. It may sound weird but I felt like I had a friend while I was stuck at home with my broken foot. After that, I was just intrigued about him. Fast forward to two years ago when sammie and tank went on tour together. I was like yes, both of my favorites on tour together . I went so hard for the both of them that I lost my voice and my throat hurt the next day. But, it was worth it cause they put their all on stage and I met sammie after the show too. Now, let’s go back to last night, he put on an amazing show and I wouldn’t expect anything less. But, I got to meet him again. I got him gummy bears cause I knew that was his favorite. I got him gummies and I was excited to give them to him then I realized it was Swedish fish I was ready for the show. It felt like r&b heaven that i would relive again if I could. thank you sammie!! & i recommend his shows and music cause he gives his all in everything he does … His IG is sammiealways snap chat is sammieleighbush Twitter:

  • The man that does it all : Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake is a man of many talents. You probably have seen him in movies, music, clothing, etc. he’s soon to be a father of two with wife Jessica biel Timberlake. He makes sure he tours twice to each city. On stage Justin is unapologetic and appreciative to his face and family. The Man of the woods tour he had the stage , like you were outside. He brought outside inside. He started off with flithy and sexyback, Love stone, ( stuck his togue out), man of the woods, say something, breeze off the ponds, midnight summertime, like I love you, senerita( sp) cry me a river, until the end of time, another love song. He dj and played piano on certain songs . Justin Timberlake has the energy like he is 21 all over again. I’m surprised he is not burnt out cause he does it work. I admire that about him.

  • Pump Camp W/ Aisha Francis

Pump Camp with Aisha Francis was an experience that I will never forget. I learned to squeeze from the pus, flip my hair like no other, and to sit on my hip.

Aisha’s energy is so amazing and she is always smiling. She does the routine with everyone as a whole group and then separates everyone into groups. The groups go from 5 to 3 to 1 person dancing the routine. Everyone in the room is cheering you on. The people taking the class are cheering you on and helping you record your video of the dance.

Pump camp goes from floor work , to basic heels, and chair dance. You can do it for your man or whatever you are into. She always told me to practice at home and use it on my man. ( little did she know I didn’t have one. Lmao ) Every time I went to class every month when she used to come to NYC. It was for all levels of dancers. I highly recommend this class.( obviously or I wouldn’t take it. )
