Spicy Spain

Spain

Have you ever dreamt of traveling to certain places in the world? During the pandemic I really wanted to visit Italy, especially the Amalfi coast. I kept getting signs that I needed to go to Italy, and Europe in general, once the borders were open and the pandemic was over, or semi over. I was going over there no matter what it takes. Now, let’s fast forward to buying the tickets in April to go to Spain first, then Italy. I was so excited that this trip was finally happening, and I could not believe it. Like I did that and made it happen, turning this dream into reality.

September 5th it was time to travel to Barcelona, Spain and it was a 7-hour flight from New Jersey. When my mom and I got onto the plane it was a different format than the planes I used to take. Those 7 hours flew by on the plane and next thing I know, we arrived in Barcelona. Once we touched down, I was just in awe and hungry at the same time. The first stop was the hotel to check in and leave our bags. Then we went to a restaurant that serves tapas and drinks. We were starving from just coming off the plane. The tapas were surprisingly good, and I couldn’t decide on what to drink. So, I got red wine and a shot of espresso. Must I say best idea I ever had. Finally we visited Sagrada Familia, this is a huge church that they were still building. The church was beautiful inside and out and we did a walk-in tour with a tour guide, and he made it interesting.

The next day, we took the train to Madrid. On this day, it was my mom’s birthday, so it was planned out to a T. We walked all around the city and it was breathtakingly beautiful from the old Church, palaces, city center and so much more. In Europe they have a light breakfast and heavy lunch/dinner (Best concept ever & they walk a lot). It was easy for my body to get used to because I am always on the go. Anyways, we went to a restaurant called Rosi La Loca, where there was an Alice in Wonderland theme from the decor, drinks, and food. It was how Spain makes their food but with a twist. My mom and I and cousin and her husband had the chicken Paella, must I say it was delicious and we were all so full. But they also give you an hour in the restaurant for you to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. Remind you it was my mom’s birthday, so our waiter brought out my mom a fake cake to sing her Happy Birthday. Also, shots to clean our pallets. It was so good even though I was the only one drinking the shots.

Around 5pm, we had other reservations at a desert place called Serendipia and my mom and I were the first ones there when it opened. We had the most gorgeous waiter showing us the whole restaurant with a tour and all. We took pictures of their Instagram worthy spots. Once we got back to our table we ordered our desserts and drinks. I had the desserts where you pour a small glass of Baileys on it, and must I say it was amazingly good and my mom had a carrot cake slice, they also wished her a happy birthday there too. The drinks were good too, I had the whisky one, which was surprisingly good, and my mom had a drink called the love potion.

I must say, both days of Spain were more than I can imagine from views, food and men and people that were nice no matter what part of Spain we went to. It was an experience between two cities in Spain. I love every minute of the whole Spain experience even though our hotel was in the city center of everything and had the pool to myself for a good two hours and the gym to myself for a whole hour. The restaurants around the whole hotel and transportation were easy to get too. You guys should put Spain on your travel list and places to see/ visit.
